"She appeared in German composer Engelbert Humperdinck's (1854–1921) Hänsel und Gretel, delivering a commanding and authoritative performance as the Wicked Witch, whose favourite delicacy is small children.
Rather than the traditional wart-nosed witch, she portrayed a fully realised, glamorous femme fatale version of the character. Framed by blonde, snake-like curls reminiscent of Mae West, her deceptively alluring smile accompanied a self-assured strut across the stage as she nonchalantly puffed on a long cigarette holder."
